Hello. On the good side, I think the website is great, it's the only one that I've found that combines the medical information with the TS community. It's been a great source of help for me and my partner. I know the site is under construction, but would be good to have more links and the advice stuff finished.
Great site, full of medical advice and info. Particularly helpful as there isn't that much available in the UK. Its the only site I found that I keep coming back to.
This is the only website that I could find that is written by medical professionals. I know there is a British slant on it, but I live in the US and I still think its the best site available.
Thank you for your comments. This is a UK-based website but it has been written for people affected by gender issues across the globe, including the USA, so we are pleased that you are finding it helpful.
At Transgender Explored, we want to ensure that you are only delivered the most up-to-date and evidence-based information, so we appreciate your patience as we continue to construct the site. Feel free to contribute or contact us directly via email.
Thank you for your support!
This website is awesome, there are no other sites like this and it has helped me understand all the medical jargon. I was dreading going for my psych evaluation so was totally prepared in advance and it has helped me through transition. I recommend it to all my transmen friends.
This is an excellent website for anyone wanting to find out more. The articles are well-written with lots of medical info. Is the site written by medics? It is unusual to have a site full of all the medical facts and figures- it is the only one I have found and it's extremely educational.
Hi Linda.
Yes, Transgender Explored is a UK-based, medical website that is constantly updated to bring the most up-to-date and evidence-based information. It is led by a Consultant Psychiatrist from the UK with links to other medical services and gender specialist centres in England (and therefore, across the World).
However, one of the main aims of this site is to interface professional services with the Transgender Community itself, so please feel free to email us directly with any comments or articles.
Thank you for your comments!
I saw this website in Boys Own and think it's really cool and has helped my family understand about my gender issues.
Thumbs up from us! :-)
Great website. I am a GP in the North West and it's been fantastic. It is the only medical site I have found and I recommend it to my patients/colleagues. Be good to have more links to local resources, especially up in the North, but keep up the good work!
Hi. I think this site is exactly what the T.S. community has been waiting for. Please finish it asap as I can't wait to see the rest of it! Thanks to all who made this possible.
Yes a nice site, but I disagree (without any supporting evidence) with statements 'Myths of Transsexualism' with regard to the ratio of transsexuals in the population, in that I believe the prevalence is much higher than published and I personally believe the disparity of the number of MTF's vice FTM's is lower.
The number of Transsexual people in St Louis, Mo (USA) that I know, defies the ratio given.
Thanks RevlonRobyn.
We totally agree, the epidemiology studies are certainly flawed because gender issues are under-reported in the studies. Therefore the stats (which are often quite out-dated too) tend to give a much smaller estimate of the prevalence.
Also MTF and FTM transsexuals often present at different times along their journies and many FTM do not present to services at all, so we also support your view about the ratios not matching what is seen in the real world.
We would welcome more research into this.
Thanks again and we are glad you like the site :-)
Hi Folks,
I'm willing to participate but I like to know who I am working with. Could you tell me who you all are ?
I should also mention there are great resources like Andrea James TS Roadmap and Hair Tell.
